StreamSide Software (creators of Spirit Story Box) is releasing our newest ghost hunting tool, which has been years in the making. Let us tell you why we believe it is a game-changer in the field of spirit communication.
Here are some highlights:
- Emulates the signal path of a legendary 1990’s digital recorder famous for being adept at capturing EVP’s
- 3D model inspired by the original device, dynamically rendered in realtime and set against 360º photographs of haunted locations
- Physical Based Rendering (PBR) with changing lighting and reflections as iPhone is rotated
- Dead-Simple operation (easy to use, difficult to mess up)
- Advanced features such as geolocation and tagging of audio portions where anomalies occur
- Simple sharing of standard-format files
- Accessibility features for persons with disabilities
Our Backstory
Several years ago we were introduced to this famous digital recorder which has garnered quite a reputation for being particularly adept at capturing Electronic Voice Phenomena (otherwise known as EVPs). This recorder is no longer in production and currently sells for as much as $5000 on online auction sites.
The original device has gained prominence as the audio recorder of choice by celebrity paranormal investigator Zak Bagans from the TV series Ghost Adventures.
Our first impressions of the recorder were favorable, as a clear, class A EVP was recorded in our presence at the Kent State Paranormal Weekend.
Later some podcaster friends of ours would have a chilling encounter using the device in the famously haunted Sallie House in Atchison, Kansas.
From Experience to Invention
After several inquiries by our friends seeking my opinion as to how the device works on a technical level, I decided to commit fully to discovering its secrets and verifying if its recordings were actually anomalous, or if they were the by product of some explainable side-effect of the vintage technology.
I spent the better part of two years analyzing its signal path and recreating it in app form for iOS.
Finally we were ready to test my proof of concept in a haunted location. I handed the app over to seasoned paranormal investigator and StreamSide co-founder, Jill Beitz, who ghost hunts on the regular and also contributed to the design of the ER70. Immediately she recorded some interesting results.
This was of course promising, but I needed to experience anomalous activity for myself to be convinced.
My Personal Experience
Jill arranged for me to take a tour of Ybor City while visiting Florida. As luck would have it, the tour was limited to just Jill, Steve Stamberger (the tour guide), and myself that night.
It is important to note that neither Jill nor I told Steve our background with the paranormal or our invention of Spirit Story Box.
While investigating in the basement of the Cuban Club, I recorded a male voice whispering the words “Spirit Stories.”
When I heard this I was gobsmacked.
It feels like a clear reference to the first paranormal app I had co-created (Spirit Story Box) as well as mirroring the phrase Jill spoke in our one of our promo videos, “the spirits are telling their stories.”
Now it’s your turn!
We created this app for hard-working folks like you who want the opportunity to capture EVPs using this famous technology but don’t want to spend crazy money for a used piece of equipment which will inevitably age and wear out.
In the months ahead I will try to explain what I believe contributes to the ER70’s effectiveness as well as outlining the in’s and outs of the EVPs in general. In the meantime won’t you please checkout the app in the iOS App Store?
